Hi Nieldslisters,
Katryna and I just got back from a dream show at the Barns of Wolftrap in Vienna VA. We played to a packed house and our dad joined us on three songs. It was a night of great joy and the chance to see old friends again. Best of all, we got to bring Amelia, William and Lila and hang out with their grandparents. Tom came too and held Lila for the entire show; she was mostly awake. There's nothing more fun for me than to sing with my father, mother, husband, sister and daughter all in one room.
Katryna won't let me rest, and asked me to write a new song, which I finished in one of my writing groups. It's an environmental version of "Shall We Gather By the River", and if we get well from the Bad Cold we both caught, we might debut it at the Iron Horse this Saturday.
I am doing a million things besides singing, which is fun, but it might be why I am catching colds. I am co-writing a musical with David Fried Oppenheim (co-founder/co-director of PACE in Easthampton) based on my novel, Effelia. Also, I am partnering with Bonnie Chandler of UnExpected Gifts to create a series of day planners; a sort of Life Composition book tailored individually with a year's worth of virtual life coaching.
Also, Lila can roll over now. I am trying not to be co-dependent and recognize that this is HER thing, not mine. Still, WOW!
HooteNanny is truly more fun than you can throw a stick at, and there's a blog about it on our website. We renamed our website, by the way.
Summer seemed very far away as we pulled into Northampton last night from our visit down south. We'd taken the scenic route, through the Appalachian trail in Pennsylvania up the Taconic to the Mass Pike, avoiding all the Connecticut hideosity and Joe Lieberman signs. I love this time of year, desperately, as if the waning days are my very last ever. I can't wait for Halloween this year. Lila will dress up as a pumpkin lover.
Please come to our Iron Horse show. If you come, we promise there will be magic. (But no clowns.)
Love, Nerissa
