Birthday Greetings from Katryna
Happy Birthday to me! Happy Birthday to ME!
Every time I say this at home Amelia says, "No! MY Birthday.:" I think she has it down now. First
mama's birthday, then Amelia's, then Nerissa's, then Patty's. I did, however, get a Dora DVD from Amelia
for my birthday.....
So my birthday is today (Friday, April 30). I will be 35. Recently I saw a commercial on TV which
made fun of a convenience store clerk for carding a woman who was born in 1969. I am now officially an
old person according to TV. Ah well, What does tv know? Actually I must say that I am pretty happy to
be the age I am now. Soon I will learn to live up to my expectations of a thirty-five year old. My house
will be clean; I will always dress in matching clothes; I will be able to always have a brilliant answer to
Amelia's eternal question: "Why?"
I am celebrating my birthday in one of my favorite venues, Wilde Auditorium at the University of Hartford. So
many times we have played this lovely room and it always feels like coming home. Please do come and be our musical
family for the night. Hartford is where we got our start and WWUH was the very first radio station ever to play our
music. It'll be a blast and Nerissa and I will do a new song too!
Speaking of homecomings, Sunday night will find Nerissa and me with our incredible CrackerJack band in our childhood
stomping grounds. We are playing a full band show with the extra cool Waifs at the Birchmere in Alexandria,
Virginia. Amelia's coming. You should too.
While we are down in that neck of the woods Nerissa and I will head to Charlottesville for a show at a new venue
called the Gravity Lounge run by a Nields fan. It's gotta be cool. That's on Tuesday.
Then we play the Susquehanna Music and Arts Festival in Darlington, MD (just north of Baltimore) on Friday night. It's
our first outdoor gig of the season. Spring has officially sprung!
We will return to the northeast for a show at the Towne Crier on May 14. Have you ever eaten their
desserts? If not, you best come. If not for the music then for the food.
Then we will take a brief hiatus to work on our children's record. Have no fear, we won't leave
for long.
On May 29 we will be playing the Warwick winery with the Kennedys and loads of others. It's a Bob
Dylan tribute event. So Nerissa and I will be learning a bunch of tunes by the Master and then doing
some of our own. I have a feeling that we will get to do a little hootenanny with Pete and Maura too.
What could be more fun?
So enjoy your tulips. Come listen to music! See you soon.
Love, Katryna
