A Word from Nerissa

Greetings dear Nields fans and chums!

The crocuses are up in western Massachusetts! How I love the way they push up through all the dead leaves, and even some lottery tickets that blow onto our garden from the main road. Now THERE'S a metaphor.

We are winding down for the season as I grow bigger and bigger with each passing day. Or rather, something grows bigger. We hope it's a baby. All reports indicate it as such. We have a mere two shows left before Maternity Leave #3 for the Nields sisters. This one isn't too long: after our last show on April 22, we come back for Falcon Ridge on July 22! Meanwhile, come see us at our last two gigs:

APRIL 1 IRON HORSE!!!!! Please come to this show. We promise it will be spledido. 7pm show
April 22 A New Song Coffeehouse Bedford (NOT New Bedford) MA

Meanwhile, here is an amazing article by our friend Gay Daly. Read it and be forever changed!

We love you, best fans on earth. See you soon, we hope!

Love, Nerissa

A Word from Katryna

Hey guys, Katryna here. I cannot believe that it is already almost April. I also cannot believe we only have two shows left before Nerissa's babbeee! We are planning on having quite a lot of fun at our beloved Iron Horse this weekend. Please come and see how much Nerissa's guitar resembles a dulcimer. Each week I notice that it is getting closer and closer to being entirely face up. Her belly is serving as some sort of shelf.

We are having an amazing time making these two new records. The family record has become the focus recently. Dave has been playing every instrument in his studio and a few out of Amelia and William's instrument basket too. Nerissa and I have been having great discussions about our dreams and hopes for our music and our lives. I think going back to the music of our youth has reminded us about why we chose to make this our career. One of our childhood music teachers passed away this year and reflecting on his influence, not only on us, but on the world, has reinvigorated our belief in music's power to make the world a better place. Oy, I am getting cheesy, but it feels so good not to feel cynical or despairing about EVERYTHING.

Anyway, we will be away from the stage and the road for a couple months, but we will not be away from music. We will not be away from this creative process. I cannot wait to hear what songs come out of Nerissa after she has a baby. I imagine they will be a bit more profound than the suite for washcloth puppets. :-)

We look forward to seeing you all. Happy Spring!
