A Word from Nerissa
Dearest Nields Fans and others inadvertantly getting these emails,
Greetings! Happy spring! I mean...sorry, got confused there, for a moment. My crocuses are threatening to come up, and they're tapping maple trees in the hill towns, so I keep having to check the calendar to make sure we're really in early February.
Katryna and I did the coolest gig last weekend. We were part of WFMA, Washington DC's annual World Folk Music Association's concert in Alexandria VA. We had a blast and got to sing with some of our way-back childhood heroes and heroines--Tom Paxton, Cindy Kallet and Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul & Mary. (We grilled Paul on how they came up with their arrangements. I'm still kind of shaking over the encounter.)
February will see us recording the last of the vocals for Sister Holler (whose title is still in question because Patty hates it) and also finishing up the recording of our Childrenšs CD, All Together Singing in the Kitchen. The first part of the project got recorded on Thanksgiving weekend; a live sing-through with our father, John Nields. The second part will hopefully be captured in early March on whatever captures music these days with real live kids' voices to help us out.
Nerissa has a monthly newsletter for anyone who wants to get it. Besides the info you generally get from these monthly emails, it also contains info and writings pertaining to her wriitng groups, novels and life coaching practice. Also, she talks a lot about her pregnancy. To receive it, email her at NFNields@aol.com and put "add me" in the subject box.
Words From Katryna
Hello! Katryna here...
It WAS thrilling getting to meet Noel Paul Stookey and Cindy Kallet. Amazing to see and hear Tom Paxton and Bill Morrissey and all the other great folks playing in DC. Noel Paul Stookey called our set "DELICIOUS!" Nerissa and I listened to Peter, Paul and Mary's Round the Campfire on the way home from Haverhill last weekend. It is sort of a retrospective of their whole career- a cd I'd bought for Amelia. Those arrangements they did of "This Land is Your Land" and "If I Had a Hammer" are just so full of joy and excitement. Anyway, that was last month.. Now I will tell you about THIS month.
This Friday, February 10th, we are headed to Natick Center for the Arts in beautiful Natick, MA. All the musicians I know who have played this gig RAVE about it. We cannot wait. We will be doing new songs galore.
On Friday the 17th we are headed up to our beloved Adirondacks for a show at the fine Paul Smiths college. I can't imagine a better treat than getting to spend the weekend in those glorious mountains.
On Saturday the 25th we are playing in Litchfield CT. Alan, longtime Nields fan and discriminating concert goer says that this place is lovely and that we will have a great time. It will be even better if you are there!
The first weekend in March takes us to the DC area and Philly!!!! It has been too long since we were at the Tin Angel. Come listen, eat, have fun. See you on the road!
